Proposed agenda --------------- The workshop could be thought to be split in an overview part and a "work" resp. design part. The overview part + discussions are necessary, because we have to agree on certain base rules, to which all subsystems will have to obey. This is the basis for any detailed work, to be done in the second part. The purpose of the prelim. agenda is to make sure, the main points are addressed during the initial overview. The subpoints are to stimulate further thinking about the relevant problems and not meant to be exhaustive by any means. The time schedule is only temptative. If you have comments, in particular, if important issues have to be added, please respond a.s.a.p. Please don't forget to bring relevant documentation (drawings etc.) along. Monday morning: --------------- 9:00 h Introduction R. R. - aim/scope of the workshop - boundary conditions/ external constraints on electro-mech. integration of MDT - discussion on aims/ boundary conditions, agenda 10:00 h Layout of MDT barrel M. Hatch - space for access to the MDT frontend for inner, middle, outer layer in small and large sectors - possibilities for ultra-short, short and long access - consequences for service layout - discussion Particular problems in the endcap C. Daly Monday afternoon: ----------------- 14:00 h MDT readout electronics w.r.t. services E. Hazen, J. Oliver, J. Chapman E. Spiriti - interconnections between mezz., CSM, and outside (+ DCS?) - routing of LV power cables, FE-links, opt. fibers - location of "penetration points" through the faraday cage - physical size of cables and connectors - access to mezz. boards - modularity of the faraday cage (how to open) - possible technical realization for different chamber types: a) CSM on cross-plate b) CSM off-chamber (2-5 m distance) - scenarios for replacement a) CSM b) mezzanine board - discussion - action items 16:30 h MDT HV-side A. Lanza - possibility to disconnect tube layer (jumpers) - location of HV-connector on faraday cage - possibilities to cut-off one tube (?) - discussion - action items Tuesday morning: ---------------- 9:00 h Relations between FE electronics and DCS (CANnode) J. Chapman, F. Linde - DCS functionality needed/ desired - possible communalities between CSM and CANnode (on same board?) a) pros (less boxes?) b) cons - grounding philosophy/ ground separation - discussion RASMUX services/ constraints F. Linde, P. Werneke - discussion Alignment sensors and readout repuirements K. Hashemi Tuesday afternoon and later: ---------------------------- This agenda has still to be defined in order to make maximum progress on design issues. Aspects of the MDT frontend readout have priority. They are most critical because of space constraints, sensitivity to EMI, etc. As we can, of course, not do the design for all MDT types during this workshop, we should instead draft clear guidelines for the designers of the FC region. This way they know the requirements and can work out a detail technical design on their own, depending on the constraints of the special MDT type. These designs must be reviewed at a later date, possibly in our electronics week, beginning of may. A brief update on production planning for our summer 2000 tests may be useful as most of the experts are present, though this is not in the focus of the meeting. This could be done for wednesday afternoon, if time allows. Otherwise it will be presented in the electronics meeting on april, 2nd.
