Future Plans

It has been proven that the required performance of the ASD can be achieved in standard CMOS, however much work remains. Another prototype chip will be submitted this year in CMOS to test a programmable shaper and calibration pulse circuit. Further prototypes will be fabricated in a sub-micron process (the HP process will be discontinued in 1997). The current goal is to have a complete 8-channel ASD prototype ready by 1998.

In addition, work proceeds on the design of the PC board and readout system. A custom ROD (Read-Out Driver) must be developed, with an interface to the TDCs on the front-end board.
